So yea this is an off topic type of post but I figured I would share. Im an avid kayaker as many of you have probably seen from my other posts but I wanted to share some pics of my new purchase.

It's a single rowing shell, or scull. Yes exactly like the ones you see in the olympics. I have never tried it out but always wanted to so I said screw it and after MUCH searching I found this one. She's 27ft. long and weighs about 30lbs (gotta love fiberglass) :banana:

Her usual cargo is my 17ft. Wilderness Tempest and my 14ft. Current Designs Whistler

I have carried a 10' satellite dish on my pickup before, back in the '80's. Kind of makes it look like a big turtle.

Those small kayaks look good on your truck!

Driving with it isn't too much of a challenge. I use bow stern tie downs on the kayaks which helps. The rowing shell is just a torpedo so it cuts right through the air. The biggest problem I am facing i ever since I added in the extension to the rola basket the front flops a bit. I did the basket mount mod but there is no support over the sunroof. Gotta figure out something cause its annoying. Though it does act like a shock absorber for the front of the kayak. :shrug:

As far as other traffic with the rowing shell, most keep back though there are those that try to play car limbo WTF!

I love kayaking. The green one is mine and my parents have 3 others, they are all future beach 10 footers. All my friends have 12 footers but I find mine easier to maneuver in shallow water my flat bottom really helps too

I have a "Perception Pirouette S" for white water that is 11' and weighs 30 something lbs
and just bought a Wilderness Systems Tarpon 120 Angler that is 12' and weighs 64lbs for bass fishing.

It is a sit on top Kayak, somewhat slow compared to the white water Kayak which is very fast and turns on a dime, the Tarpon 120 while slow tracks like a train and has lots of room.

I used to have a friend that had a membership to the Balboa Bay Club in Newport Beach Cal, we used to get really nice single sculls to use for the day and row around the bay at least 1 or 2 times a a week.
Bout the same as what you have except they are the old style made of very fine grain cedar, still only weighed about 34lbs though and were 26' long.

Boats are looking good guys! Tis definitely the season for some water action out there, especially with fall and winter staring us down.

As for the 4Runner in flight if I can save some damn money on gas I would consider it. hahaha :zoom:

I used to ave that exact same boat! Pelican 100 right? That boatlasted me 6 months before I got tired of spinning in circles whenever I stopped paddling and battubbing out whenever I finally got enough speed. I jumped from that to a Dagger Edisto then to my current boats. :surfer:

Yes they are as a matter of fact. I know what you mean but we definitely have a casual approach to the sport, mostly just out of the house enjoying nature. Houston's bayou's flow just fast enough to be forgiving. Lake Livingston, on the other hand, is a workout!

Reserved an overnight kayak trip at lake ouachita S.P. in AR next month. I'm sure I missed the spelling on that; anyways just for fun, to old to hurry any more. Looking back at 50 these days.

I had a Pelican 100 too! haha. But I had to sell it to pay to fix my A/C in the Runner. Kinda miss it now! :crybaby: Definitely going to upgrade for my next kayak, though.:surfer:
