New owner of a 2000 SR5, 6 cyl. 4WD, 175,000. Was running fine all summer, then big problems - would not accelerate beyond about 5 MPH.
Local mechanic finds a bad shift sensor solenoid (the rear-most one). Has ordered 4 of them now from various dealers, etc., and they keep sending what they claim is the correct one - but the part just doesn't match. Problem is that the mechanic believes that there is something which may have changed in '01 and that I may have that unit in the vehicle.
Big difference is that mine has 2 mounting bolts, replacement part has 1. Also, it appears to be "reversed" in that it is open when it is supposed to be closed, and vice versa.
Can anyone shed any light on this? It has been out of service for over a week trying to get this resolved.
Thanks,
