Problem with aux

I am having a problem with my aux jack in my 2006 4runner. When ipod is plugged in, music only plays from either front L or front R speaker. When in CD or stereo mode, speakers/sound quality is normal. Bought a new aux cord but it did the same thing. Also, it now wants to switch from aux mode to CD mode on its own and today I could not get it to go into aux mode at all until I turned off the power and turned it back on. The stereo is the 6 disc JBL model. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I have seen 3 of these come back into the warranty room. this is a known problem across all models. you will need a new AUX jack or try to get it fixed under warranty.

I did forget to mention one detail: when I mess with the end plugged into the ipod, the sound fades from left to right, but when I mess with the end plugged into the car...nothing. We have also tried this on 2 iphones and 1 ipod to rule out the apple device - all did the same thing. Not sure if this changes anything or not...

Try swapping out the sire that connects the two devices together. Their are cheap ones out their, and they burn out after awhile. I had this problem in my Dodge, I replaced the cable and it was perfect again.
