I would suspect the starter is bad.

My brother had the exact problem w/ his 1990 Integra.

Temporary fix was to use my The Club (Steering Wheel Lock) & tapped the starter & it fired up.

After lagging for a few more months, that trick no longer worked.

So a buddy & I replaced the starter.

What I suggest you do...because buying parts after parts & you may still have the same problem.

Go to Kragen & have them check out your starter.

On a different car I was tweaking w/...they checked out my alternator & battery w/ a Voltmeter.

I'm not sure exactly what the procedure they will do to check your starter, but give them a shot...plus, they don't charge for it.

cool thanks thats what i was thinking. i also thought it might be the battery. i have a lot of power pumping into my stereo i have a radar detector that tells me the volts the car is running at, and sometimes its down at 11 volts or so.

What kind of amps are you running?

Sounds like you need to either get a new HO alternator or a new battery to put in the trunk or both.

IF it is the starter search the threads on here for a bad starter and about the contacts being replaced. You probably need to buy a multi meter and trace the wiring checking it while someone is trying to start the truck.

As far as the stereo effecting things adding another battery won't really help you. A second battery will actually put more strain on the alternator. If you need more power you need to look into a larger alternator. Most Toyota alternators will interchange w/ each other, you just need to figure out what you have now, and look at other vehicles to see what they have stock.

im not sure how to figure out the amps that i am running. can you give me some details on that. i talked to my pops he said it sounds like the battery. it seems kinda old so im gonna go to kragen and have them test the battery & the starter. maybe down the road i will look into the HO alternator. any recomendations on a good battery. i have a 450 watt amp w/ a 500 watt subwoofer, i have a cap. thanks

If your only running 450 watts then it's probably not your alternator. I'm running over 1,000 and mine is doing fine so far.

Had the same problem. Do not waist money on a new starter. Get the contacts and do it yourself. It cost me 10 bucks and an hour of my time. Search threads for starter contacts and you will find it. Or try google.
