Problems with 4WD

This morning I attempted to put my 4Runner (96, manual, shift 4WD, e-locker) into 4H to no avail. I tried pumping the brakes as I found in an old similar thread but that didn't work and then I came across another thread where it mentions vacuum leaks.

I recently changed my oil and took off my air filter to clean it so I'm hoping that my problem is just a vacuum leak that I caused when I was removing the intake or taking off the oil filter.

The car DOES engage in 4L, however nothing is indicated on the dash. The 4WD symbol does NOT blink or stay solid when I shift into 4L or 4H. 4H does not engage AT ALL but 4L does.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys!!

EDIT - Here's a pic of a hose I found unplugged (attaches to the arm of the intake). I plugged it back in, and obviously nothing changed.

I don't see any other hoses unplugged.

Are you sure 4H isn't working? It sounds like the light on the dash is out so it might help to see what's happening to get that fixed. I can't imagine the 4L working but the 4H not. Unless your transfer case is broken somehow.

It shifts into 4L and it engages the lower speed, but it certainly doesn't feel like all 4 wheels are being powered.

4H definitely doesn't work.

When you shift into 4h or 4l you only have 2wd. Driving in 2h you only have 1wd. Hence the e-locker.

I'm having the same problem but cant figure it out, i'll keep you posted if I find any thing out. This is driving me crazy:smashputer:

I think mine ADD is connected wrong. I'll post a pic later

!Please Reply!
"Does anybody have a picture of the ADD and the hoses attached?"

Thanks

My 96 had a broken vac line that goes to the actuator at the axle.
Stealer replaced it so don't know how hard it is to do...but can't be that difficult.
