I picked up a set of lx470 rims to run since I was having problems finding any decent deals on 16" tires. The problem I'm having is that they're not working very well with the acorn lug nuts. They keep biting and tighten down without centering on the lug. I've mostly used steel wheels on her so not sure if its just because these are aluminum that I'm having that much of an issue. Anyone else fight this much with rims? I'm holding out mounting my new tires until I figure these guys out a little or decide to ditch them and go back to steel. Just a pain right now.

You cannot use acorn style tapered nuts on an aluminum rim. The holes in the aluminum rim are made to fit a shank-style nut. Some of these will even have a thick washer pressed onto the shank to fit the rim's opening.
I'd suggest looking up what size shank-style lugnut went with those rims, then cross-ref it against the thread pitch and length of studs on your 4Runner, and see if they will work or not.
Even if the stock nuts won't work, I'm sure somewhere will have something that fits correctly. Try looking for generic shank lugnuts with the specs you require to fit both rim and stud. Ebay will most likely have a hundred auctions for exactly what you seek!
