All 4 door lock actuators failed by 39k miles. This actuator is used on many Toyota vehicles, problems with them are not unique to the 4Runner.

Rear KDSS cylinder at 55k miles, 100% OEM stock as Akio Nishimura intended:

Replacement this week under extended warranty. Photo is after they cleaned it once. I don't have lean issues, it has always been level relative to fuel load.

Has anyone ever reached out to Kinetic Pty Ltd in Austrailia? They invented KDSS and other cool similar things, a Toyota OEM purchased it from them. The engineer is still around in other ventures: Chris Heyring

My experience is atypical. These are the most repairs (total $ amount) to any vehicle I've ever owned. After the door lock issue, I purchased full wrap coverage from the dealer.

I think this would be interesting to see. Mine doesn't do it all the time, maybe once a month.

I've got a weird windshield buzz/click/rattle when it's windy outside and my blower fan squeaks at low speeds sometimes.

If I try to use the nav and pandora at the same time I would freeze in less than 20 min

Just wait until you do a bunch of suspension mods! I have a virtual choir. I have even started to interpret some of the squeaks and I found out it is actually a whole language not dissimilar to Klingon. I feed it all the right foods like grease and T9, but at the end of the day, I kinda like her chatter. It grows on you. Now... the stupid exhaust vibration... one of these days I'm going to fix it!

1 actuator go out ~45k miles
Bluetooth/nav has completely stopped working (not a simple reboot issue) ~52k miles
Passenger seat warmer went out ~25k miles
Mystery faulty strut ~20k miles

81000 miles on my 2014 sr5 4x4 and I've had no issues with it other than 3 broken windshields. I don't think it has anything to do with Toyota though, just crappy luck with rocks hitting it on highway.

The only "issue" I have is the exhaust coming in through the back window when driving with it down. I'm going to get a muffler shop to re-route it out the side behind the passenger's side tire to see if that fixes it.

The cruise control is useless because you live in Washington. Move somewhere flat and you'll see it works just fine.
