ProComp said rims won't fit my Sport Ed 4Runner

Get some spidertrax..problem solved.

I have SpiderTrax and am removing them as the rims I ordered provide sufficient offset.

...or we can buy bigger wheels! If you ever took yours to play in some rocks you would find a lot of rock rash on those perrty wheels you have.

If you look at my wheel ad in the classifieds section, you'll see what rock crawlin' has done to my rims, hence the desire to get rims that sit further back from the tire sidewall. I don't want poser rims. I want off-road utilization rims.

Methods were 3rd on the list I took to Discount Tire. ATX Artillery was 1st, and ProComp 7089s were 2nd, which is what I ended up with. However, if for some reason those don't fit, then onto Methods next.

2011+ FJ wheels. Better offset, no spacers needed, paid $500 for 5 with lugs and caps.

UPDATE: ATX Artillery discontinued!

Grrr...ran over to Discount Tire this morning to order these. He called ATX to place the order and was informed they have only 1 rim left as they are discontinued.

Did they just discontinue the chrome ones, or the Teflon as well?

Not sure if the chrome are also discontinued. Kind of disappointed that the ATX teflons are still displayed on ATX's website.

Did you ever fit the Pro Comps? I have a set of Pro Comp 7089s 17x8 sitting in my garage and I'm now dreading to check to see if they fit. I have a 2003 SE.

I just did a test fit of the Pro Comp 7089 17x8 on my 2003 SE and they fit great. There was was no rubbing on the caliper and much more clearance than I expected. I couldn't quite get my finger between the wheel the pesky ridge on the caliper. So I would say there is at least 1/4 in, maybe more at the closest point.

I found at least one post from a few years back saying the 7089's would not fit SE, so Pro Camp may have changed their casting, or maybe there is a differences in the casting of the caliper. But it's hard to imagine that some of Toyota's calipers would have 1/4 in more metal on them.

I actually like the looks of the 7069 a little better than the 7089, but Pro Comp does not make the 7069 in a 8" rim. A 9" rim is a little wide for for the selection of tires that most of us run on a 4Runner unless you are going with very wide tires.

I'm a little surprised there is no thread here on rims that fit The Sports Edition models. I found a couple of threads where people had problems with specific rims--usually because they were 16" or steelies. But no list of rims that work.

There are definitely a few alloy 17" wheels that will not work with Sport Editions without grinding and/or spacers.

Some of the Pro Comp wheels come in a 17x8 and a 17x9. There might be a difference between them in fitment.

Am at Discount Tire. The 7089 Pro Comp wheels fit fine over the Sport Edition brake calipers without the aid of spacers. Installed the Demello bumper last night, and now the black rims are going on...my truck is transforming into what i wanted it to be.
