Get a supercharger. It is bolt on, its factory and its reliable. Everything else (besides a turbo) is a waste of money.

Throttle body dont do anything minus what ppl tend to say and headers arent worth it unless you get the SC and even when you get the SC your going to drop ALOT of money into it just make sure you have the neccesary components and as far as the TRD exhaust just get a borla cat b/c thats all TRD uses you just pay for the nice TRD stamp on the tip. Hope this helps. Have you done the IRS mod as well and I have heard a few ppl saying that the deckplate mod has killed their gas mileage and they just put the cover back over the deckplate hole to kinda make it stock again

Welcome to the age of modern N/A Motors.

The 3.4 will not see any concrete improvments from typical bolt-on modifications. You may hear more engine noise and "Feel" more response from a open Air-Intake or an exhaust. Headers may add 10hp, which will be unnoticeable in a 4,000lb truck.

So really, all of these things are "cosmetic" and if they make you feel better, knock your self out. If you are really looking for speed-performance then you should trade the truck and get a sports car.

"Performance" mods you should be looking at are reliability and utility ones. External Trans-cooler, ball-joint upgrades, underbody protection, suspension and lift kits, cargo boxes, diff-locks and trail bumpers. This truck has plenty of power for off road excusions in stock form.

I did the deckplate mod and I noticed a drop in MPG. I think it was from me driving with my foot alittle more on the gas so I could hear the growl sound. I put the screw in cap on and I've noticed my old MPG's are back

Poor 5VZ owners :( LCE makes most of the stuff for my motor. Bored throttle bodies, intake manifolds, turbo manifolds, headers, you name it.

Tune your ECU? For an intake? There's no need. As long as your MAF is good, then your ECU can easily calibrate A/F ratio since it's only vacuum. If you had boost, you'd need tuning. You're not forcing tons of air into the engine with an intake, it's just allowing it to breathe more efficiently.

The big bore throttle body won't do you much good anyway, unless you have a big bore intake manifold w/bored intake plenum, and then likely ported heads. Even with all of it ported, it still wouldn't help you much unless you had forced induction. It would be major bucks for all of that work, too, for such little improvement. It proves to be impractical without a supercharger or turbo.

I agree with these people, if you want power, get a supercharger. Bolt ons like headers won't do you much either if you have stock exhaust headers back... certainly would be helpful if you had forced induction.

Just do gears. Best performance mod for the money.

Gears really wouldnt be that big of deal unless you are running a SC or turbo or you have big tires. lets just face it Toyota didnt make this to be a corvette they had the offroaders in mind. I have a SC and all the bells and wistle to go with it and its still no speed racer.

T4R.ORG stickers give 50hp each I heard... need to get some of those!

:jk: but really, matthinnant's speakin the truth, it's no Corvette.

We'd be made of plastic and have broken down ages ago, if that was true :P
