Programming Options?

Ok, I've done some searches and also looked in the back of the manual, but I cannot find if the non Smart Key-fob that came with my trail edition can be programmed to lower and raise the rear window. I saw the option listed with the Smart Key, but didn't read anything for the basic key-fob. Are there any other programmable options that can be done but are not listed in the manual?

If anyone knows if this can be done, please let me know. I was planning on getting the seat belt chime disabled, think I read that was possible somewhere, and also the rear hatch/door mechanical key lock/unlock thing disabled.

Thanks,
Nathan

I'd also like to unlock all my doors at same time, one touch.

Jesse, I found that link you posted in another thread, It only listed the rear window going down via key or remotely via the smart key. That's why I'm asking if we have any other options that aren't listed on the document.

maybe I'm confused, but I think that document addresses everything? I assume that if the default setting on the power windows tab was changed from off to on we would have control of the windows. Not the rear window independently, but all of them.

I was just mostly looking at the rear window going down/up independently, you know, for when I'm using it as a grocery getter.
I might stop by the dealer this weekend and see what all they offer. If they offer anything more than whats printed, I'll let you all know.

My SR5 which has the standard key fob allows me to open and close only the rear window by sticking the key in the lock on the liftgate.....unlock and hold opens the window and lock and hold closes it....Not sure that you can program the remote to open and close the window...

i had the dealer try this and it can not be done. they can program it to work all the side windows but not the rear window. this kinda sucks because i have this functionality on my 4th gen.

on a side note, i had the dealer program 6 other features at no charge.

I'm gonna stop by the dealer later and have then change some things for me.

Options that should be able to change according to documents I've found here:
*Driver and Passenger Seatbelt warning buzzer's changed to OFF position.
*Open and close all 4 windows via transmitter enabled.
*Change the rear window wiper speed from 3 sec. default to 5 seconds.
*change the brightness of the dash and stereo to a darker setting when the headlights are switched on.

Options I hope they can modify, but are not listed in the documents;
*unlock all doors via transmitter by pressing unlock button once instead of twice.
*Disable rear door key lock and unlock, prefer the key only to raise and lower the window.
*control the rear door window up/down via transmitter(noted by4RBob this cannot be done :nono:)

If anyone else recommends anything, please let me know asap, I'll be heading to the dealer after work around 4pm.

I changed my doors to lock after 15 mph. That way if someone is getting in the car after you backed out of the garage, the doors are still unlocked. I found myself unlocking the doors a lot to let in a member of the family after they forgot their cell phone or soccer shoes:banana:

Here's what I had done:

Operation Signal (Buzzer): Turn OFF
Speed Detecting Automatic Door Lock Function: Turn ON
Shifting the Shift Lever to Position Other Than P Locks All Doors: Turn OFF
Illumination - Time Period Before Lights Turn Off: Change to 30 Seconds
Seat Belt Reminder: Turn OFF
Automatic Door Locking (if door is not opened after unlocking): Turn OFF

I agree completely. Rear window down from the key/key fob is probably one of the most used features in 4Runner history. I use it almost every time that I drive my 3rd Gen.

Correct me if I am wrong, but if you turn on window features via the remote, you can roll the windows down, but not up? And you can open the sunroof, but not the back window?

The Limited's Smart Key still operates the up/down of the lift gate window. Unlock button on the Fob winds it down and lock winds it up as well as the 2 buttons outside on the handle.

Maybe I should have been a little more clear, my '10 is a SR5 (so is my '01 BTW). I know I said key fob/remote, I am just not sure what to call the integrated keyless remote key thingy on the SR5. It just chaps my hide a little that this is a feature that I love on my '01. I can come out of the store with bags in my hand and manage to press the button to lower the liftgate window to load my purchases. It is a lot more cumbersome to get the key in the hole, then have to turn it and lower the window.

My limited never had this, nor could I get it to. I ended up having the unlock button rolling down the side windows instead.

Well, I went yesterday to the dealer. Some things that I thought could be programed turned out they could not.

Things I had done:
*Turned off passenger seat belt buzzer, driver still on
*changed rear wiper interval to 5 sec.
*Unlock on transmitter if pressed for 1.5 sec rolls down windows. (I was disappointed that pressing lock could not roll them back up, oh well
*changed the illumination (dash, etc.) to go darker when the headlights are turned on.

I think thats it. The tech did say that the Smart Key transmitters are able to have the rear window go up and down. I think it would be cool if Toyota was able to upgrade the firmware in our truck's to allow more programmable features. Perhaps some day. Really wish the rear window could go up and down via transmitter on the Trail and SR5's.

I'd call BS on them saying they couldn't turn off the driver side buzzer, the dealer here in Denver was able to do it. I am equally annoyed that they can't set the unlock to do all of the doors at the same time.

^ There was an option for the driver buzzer, the guy just didn't want to disable it for liability issues. So we compromised and he turned off the passenger side. I wasn't really concerned about the driver side buzzer. My passenger's while out on the trail prefer not to wear seat belts, but I'm always wearing mine so no biggie regarding that.
