Programming vehicle to auto open all windows

I have 2 questions:

1. I just bought a 2015 SR5 4WD with regular 3 button keyfob ignition and the key will roll down the rear hatch window if I insert it and turn it left just like my old 3rd gen. Is there a way to look up to see if my vehicle supports this feature or do pretty much all of them have this feature available?

2. Outside of buying that carista OBDC dongle and trying to DIY is the only other option to ask a dealer to do it? How much do they generally charge to do this?

Thank you!

1. No. The door windows will only go down with the key in the driver door but it also opens the sunroof if you have it.

2. Haven't tried using the dealer for it. I just bought the Carista dongle and used the free month subscription.

probably cheaper with carista dongle vs dealer plus you get to keep the dongle

Ok that's what I was wondering. Anyone done this before? It looks like there are tons of settings that can be changed and I don't want to mess anything up but lowering the seat belt alarm volume looks awfully tempting... ;)

Interesting. So that harness plugs into OBDC and then it just works? Do you get any other options or interface or does this just make the windows go down?

Does it raise them all when you turn the key in the driver's lock or is that done via separate setting?

Trying to figure out the advantage of this over the carista which gives you a way to tweak multiple settings and costs about the same.

You can ask Toyota to program your windows to go down with the key. You can also use techstream software and OBD2 dongle to program, but requires some pc installation. Easiest is do use Carista.

As for the harness from CTH, that’s only to make the windows go back up.

All my windows roll down on my 2011 SR5 minus the hatch. Just hit the unlock button twice on the key fob and hold it down the 2nd time. Unfortunately the don’t all roll up holding lock.

I forgot about this feature but kinda useless in my book.

You must work from home and park in a cooled garage lol. During the summer I use this feature to roll down my windows, sunroof and hatch window to let all the hot air out. I also do the same when leaving work. It really is a great feature.

It hits triple digits here but I just get in and roll down the rear and 2 fronts. If it didn't open the sunroof, I'd probably use it.

i dont understand why this isn't programmed by default. just about any other vehicle i've owned has a 'secondary' option on the unlock button and its usually to roll the windows down.

making us go to the dealer or have forums like this to know what doodads to buy and apps to use to enable this just seems silly.

Toyota is strange. So annoying having the dealer do it, and if you want to tweak it you have to go to the dealer again. Probably just another way to make money.

Installing a remote start alarm by Compustar and it will roll up and down the windows. Also looking to program it to open/close the rear hatch window.

BUMP.

this was stupid easy. got a cheap blue $4 bluetooth ELM327 off ebay and it came in today and i plugged it in and grabbed carista off android play store and opted for their "3 months for $9.99" special and literally went through every single option and changed/tested them as well as looked at engine code history in maybe 6 minutes total.

i do have to cancel carista before the 90 days is up but thats not a huge deal. i might want to mess with some other settings before then anyway.

so for $15 or so i was able to set everything the way i wanted without any dealer nonsense. worth $15 not to have to have the conversation with the dealer at all.

thanks everyone.
