You can get a trial subscription to Carista, do all the programming you want (including the windows) and then cancel the subscription. I used an old ELM OBD2 dongle I had laying around. Can a plebeian like me, given that I am willing to spend enough money, obtain TechStream without being associated with a dealer / being a certified mechanic?

believe the trial is only if you purchase carista dongle at $29.99. I have a fixd dongle and downloaded the carista app. I can do one month at $9.99, would change a few things on the audi and 4runner. 4runner changes would be use of key fob to open/close windows, and get rid of the seatbelt chimes

What is the just dongle if you buy it somewhere else?
basically any obd2 dongle could work, one posted in this forum at $12, but then another $9.99 for one month on the app. If you dont have one probably just better off buying one, you can use multiple apps with a dongle.

I don't have a dongle...so just get the dongle that comes with Carista? Not really much more than the one on Amazon.

I brought our 4R in for an oil change and asked how much to reprogram the vehicle to roll all windows down, and the guy said they would charge over $100. Uh, hard pass on that...
Is there any danger to using Carista? I figure I can also turn off the seat belt alarm and a couple other things, but don't want to create problems for our new truck

Looks good for just the window function, but think the Carista option has more features I would use like turning off the seat belt alarm.

Two more questions before I plunk down the money...
1. Is there a way to roll all windows up as well as down, and does up or down work for the rear hatch window?
2. Has this ever gone off on you accidentally, i.e. you are in your house and car's parked in front and you accidentally press the button in your pocket and don't realize you just left your car wide open, or is it a long press/series of presses? Someone on YouTube mentioned accidentally doing that when it was raining. I have never accidentally unlocked my car that way, so am guessing it's not common.
Too bad we can't enable Remote Start on an ORP

It is a double press and hold while windows lower. I don’t see how that could happen accidentally. It does not roll down the rear hatch window.
You cannot roll the windows back up with the fob.
It’s 30 dollars. Just order it and set up all the other configurable options in the first month. Done.

That is crazy. My family business is a garage and part time auto body, i used the autel obd scanner and changed a bunch of things including the windows with the fob and it took aboiut 5 minutes. To charge over $100 is obsurd.
