Did some browsing online and didn't find anything that doesn't look cheap. Am I missing something? Is there a projector/HID/LED option out there without having to hack out the back of the housing and retrofit?

Just drop in some Diode Dynamics SS3 pods. Install looks pretty good and the light spread on them is incredible also they're street legal. You'll be lighting up the the other side of the highway with those bad boys.

Just searched and found someone that did it with the yellows, I'm on it. Ordering the yellow ones

A few things to remember with the DD SS3's. There are several beam patterns. You want the FOG pattern as it is the only street legal one. There are two colors; clear and selective yellow. Clear gives you a bit more light, but the selective yellow cuts through fog, rain and snow much better. There are 3 levels of performance: Sport, Pro and Max. Sport is great, Pro is awesome and Max is unbelievable. The Sport is more than enough for most folks though. No matter which one you pick, make sure you aim them properly.
