Proper Rigid LED Lights..

Do you have the PIAA 520s?

I have those in Amber as fog lights. Have you considered just updating them to HID? I think the whole kit is like $50 off EBAY. That would be an enormous improvement.

As for the other $350 why not spend it on a Retrofit, even a drop-in from The Retrofit Source.

As great as these light bars are they do not out perform a solid projector retrofit.

And the benefit of a retrofit is that you get the better light output every day while driving on road but it also works great off road.

Don't get me wrong, I love my Retrofitted headlights and wouldn't want to be without them daily, but in no way do they outperform a large LED bar or a good set of HID fog-lights.

Have you considered LightForce? I've got a trio of HID Equipped Genesis 210's waiting to go on the 4runner, and I've tested them, they are only the 35W bulbs, but they'll throw light over 3/4 of a mile with a spot beam cover, and the wide beam will light up well past the ditches on a country road with solid light. I've had had one at a time on too, so with all 3 it'll be very bright.

I'm not in love with the cheaper LED bar I have because of the relatively uncontrolled beam and 6K hue of the light. I know the Rigid and Baja Designs have much better optics, but they still use the same temperature of light.

I'm with you on the LED Bar statement... if you are indeed going to be throwing light it's nice for it to be controlled.

I'd love to test this somehow. My retrofit is pretty high performance.
Been there done that I have stable exposure comparison pictures of my 50w fx-r retro and of my led light bars when I had them on my old build thread.

As for the thread I prefer hid converted hella 700ff's over led light bars. they are better at controlling and throwing light.
