Protecting Spare Tire

So when I purchased my new rims I opted to get 5 total so that in the event I need a spare it won't be a steel rim. I just got to thinking that new rim being under the car is going to catch a lot of debris seeing as when I changed to my spare before I saw how dirty and scuffed it became. I was thinking of maybe wrapping it in saran wrap until I install my bumper in the future where it will be against the trunk. Does anyone have any advice on how to protect it? and any experience with using saran wrap like this? or maybe a cover that can fit without disturbing the rim under the car?

I was also thinking this, but I might have to cut a hole most likely but it will protect it being secured under the vehicle and I appreciate your response thank you! Do you have a brand you recommend?

I don't see any way you rim can get damaged under there. I had my TRD wheel in spare location for a 4 years now without a single scratch. Keep in mind that your spare facing up against the body therefore any possible damage is on the inside of the wheel anyway. Wrapping it will just create bed for moisture and dirt. I'd leave it as is. Bringing back an old thread. Just had a new 285/70-17 Wildpeak AT3W on a new TRD Pro wheel installed to have a matching spare and 5 tire rotation. The cost of the tire, wheel, TPMS, mount and balance, tire certificate, ceramic coating my spare wheel and taxes cost me a whopping $580. I know they make a spare tire steel/skid protector, but, I was wondering about just running a spare tire cover underneath. Cut a weep hole or two for moisture and dust and use a padlock to the chain link.
What are your ideas or experiences for this? TIA

I include my matching spare in the rotation. You could get a cover for the spare, that would not be a bad idea.

One of the ones with elastic on the back, like (dare I say) Jeeps have.

The spare is a de facto skid. It takes rocks just fine. I have had different Wildpeaks there, all P metric, they have taken the punishment fine.

Any cover will be torn in short order.

There is no need to cover it, re-locate it, etc.

I wondered the same thing...I bought a matching rim & tire for my spare as well and wanted to wrap shrink it. I have seen at marine shops they will wrap a boat with that white wrapping and it seems they use some sort of heat gun or vacuum to wrap it tight on the boat. Not sure why tire shops would not do this for spares, IMO. My tire shop just said put the nice side of the rim on the inside of the spare mount that way the inside of the tire gets all the filth. I also found this guy on YT that posted how he wraps his with a large black trash bag.
