Protective Patch on Fender Flairs

2nd Post.

The 2000 4Runner has a protective thick plastic patch on the Fender Flairs where it mates to the Rear Door and Running Boards.

I would like to remove it for aesthetic reasons. See pic.

I was about to hit it with a heat gun and try to carefully peel it off but thought I would ask members if they have any tips / words of caution before I start.

Also, what is the part number for the seal that is used between the fender flairs and the body of the truck?

Thanks.

If you're worried about using a heat gun, use a hair dryer. Easier to control the heat. I've got both and will use a hair dryer when it's around something like paint.
