Protective plastic film over the LCD screen in the IP

I've had my 4runner for over 4 months and I just noticed and removed an adhesive transparent plastic film that protects the LCD screen in the center of the IP [the HVAC and trip computer display].

I noticed this only because the film had a nick in it. Otherwise, it's unnoticeable.

Is this normal or did the factory / dealer miss this in prep?

Dealers miss it all the time....that and the same thing over top of the "Synthesis" labels on the JBL sound systems speakers

Mine had the plastic on all of the JBL things...

Mine mist it too. Looks like Toyota want us to do some pre-delivery inspection or just letting us know that none was driven this vehicle prior us.

My 2003 Sport had it on the day I picked it up and the day I returned it. My 2005 has it was well (they missed it on both vehicles). I would rather it have the protective film because it protects the screen from scratches. It is not visible so I just leave it there.

Mine had the plastic on all of the JBL things...

Mine still has it on all the JBL Synthesis. I never bothered to take it off.

I think its better left on the off. Watch out for the gauge pods as the plastic will scratch it with even the softest cotten.

I just pulled mine out yesterday (after my wife noticed it) after having it for more than a year now!

Can't tell if my main display has a screen protector on it or not. I can feel a "lip" when running my hand across. Is there a protector on it or am I crazy?
