Hi everyone, what size are the vacuum hoses coming off of the power steering pump? Mine are pretty cracked... Thanks!

Buy Toyota or after market Rock Auto. They aren't that expensive. They are low pressure power steering hoses not vacuum hoses.

Thank you, are you sure? The two coming off of the top of mine go right into the air intake...

can you post a pic of the lines in question? there are no vac hoses on a power steering pump. as mentioned above, the hoses are for high & low pressure fluid.

Not quite. There’s a device on some of these power steering lines that allows idle to increase slightly when turning wheels.

Called a vacuum control valve by some. Only on some versions. Early 3rd gens, early v8’s also I think. Newer ones use an electric switch. Here’s an example

Google it. Vacuum on power steering exists.

thanks for the info, im familiar with that feature in general, but was not aware 4th gens used it, thought they were all electric controlled.

So to be fair, I can say that Toyota V8’s had that feature. Not sure if it was 1uz or 2uz, but I know I dealt with it on a newer version of a Toyota V8, like mid 2000’s. I could be mistaken that the 4th gen never had that, but I do know that around that time frame the 4th’s did have the V8. So I may have my Toyota cars mixed up and I’m thinking a Lexus LS430 or something I worked on.

Thanks everyone, my 2007 v8 definitely has the two vacuum lines coming off of it. Now I know what they are for and why the stealer called them "idle up" lines. I think I'm going to just buy a silicon hose kit on ebay and hope it has the right size.

Well in case anyone is following this thread, I answered my own question by driving to Autozone, pulling off the vacuum hose from the pump and matching it to what they had. The size is 6mm, Autozone sells 6ft packs of 6mm or 4mm hose for $3.50. Yes I know, I know it isn't OEM or silicone... but its $3.50 for 6ft. I can replace it every oil change and still come out ahead! :bounce:
