Ps3

There is a lot of commotion about the PS3's at the moment. Sony came up very short on the original projected number of units that were supposed to be available for the first shipment. Original number was 400,000 units for the US. Now numbers are projected between 150,000 and 200,000.

Most people who made a reservation for the system aren't getting them on day one due to large retailers such as EBgames and ToysRus not getting as many units as they were orignally allotted.

Also not all stores for each chain recieving PS3's will have some for sale. I know that Circuit City has announced that they are going to stock 6 stores with 100 PS3 units and then are going to do a midnight release The downside is that the lines are well over 100 people long and people have continued to wait for days and a lot are likely to go home empty handed.

I would reccommend the Xbox 360 over the PS3 anyway. The PS3 launch games aren't all that good and graphically the 2 systems are pretty much the same. The PS3 premium also costs a lot more than the 360 (360, $399- PS3 $599). If you dont want to wait in line (which I wouldnt reccommend) you are probably going to have to wait a while to get one. It took a few months before you could actually find an Xbox 360 on store shelves, before that every shipment flew out the door before they could even be stocked. But anyway, I wish you luck.

Oh and just to reiterate the high demand for the PS3, check this out http://cgi.ebay.com/SONY-PLAYSTATIO...6QQihZ008QQcategoryZ62054QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I have too many PS2 games and want to still use them on the PS3. I was in line for an hour this morning. When the last one was sold, there were still 23 people in front of me. The Bestbuy store only had 35 units total available

The sad part is most of the people waiting on line are doing it to make a profit. The people who really want the system for their own enjoyment are probably the ones who will not get it during the first release. At 2 BestBuy's and 1 Target in New Jersey, they started lining up Tuesday night. I know the first wave of PS3's will have kinks in them. I read somewhere that not all PS2 games will be compatible as well. If that is the case, I may go to Costco and buy an Xbox 360 for much lower price! :D

Hey Mark! The Scarlet Knights are now 7th
:awais: :awais: :awais: :awais:
Yea I want to play that darn Playstation. I WAS looking forward to sore thumbs over the holidays

Yeah there have been a few reported PS3 problesm so far, around 200 or so games are not backwards compatible, it won't display in 1080i, and the HDMI connection is not working so well. I assume they will get kinks worked out, but as of yet they have some issues.

After hearing about the "exploding and burning" up Xbox 360 units when it first came out, I'll wait it out for at least a year. :D

360's never blew up or exploded those stories were all rumors. 3% of the initial shipment of xbox 360's were defective (a very reasonable number) but on top of that people were not placing their Xboxes in well ventilated areas which cause them to overheat and freeze up temporarily, so that of course created it's own histeria. But all and all the 360 had no major issues at launch other than the small percentage of defective system. The pS3 is actually failiing to deliver features that Sony expressed to be major selling points of the system.

While there were several incidents across the country, I'm proud to report that here in CT we had a line of people waiting outside of a Best Buy Robbed early this morning. The last guy apparently refused to hand over his money and was shot twice. Also, someone at a different location in CT was mugged and beaten up by 5 guys as he walked out of the store with his PS3. If one can find any humor in it, one of the five muggers got thrown out of the getaway vehicle as it raced away, and he got arrested. I guess he must have been the Nintendo fan.

Yeah there were quite a few incidents. In Kentucky line standers were pelted with BB guns, no one seriously hurt but that is pretty awful regardless. Then there was the incident in your town which I heard about. And also there was a robbery at a Gamestop where the robbers made off with 4 PS3's. Its pretty ridiculous when a game system causes this much of a mess.

Acually there were a lot more incidents than I knew of... If you read the bottom of the Gamestop link there are others posted for those interested.

Just an update for those of you who didnt know. Tomorrow (black friday) reatilers are supposed to let go of their second shipment of PS3's and Wii's. I dont know however if this is every retailer, and I dont know numbers. But you have another chance to get one if you are looking, and I am pretty sure this second shipment hasn't been advertised much.

I got over it. I thought when it fist came out that I would make an effort. But now I have more important things to worry about and my peace of mind. I

hahaha holy crap, so tonight i was at best buy bored and i see this employee walking with a box in his hand and some people kind of watching him and hes heading towards where the games are and he sets the box on the counter and some guy who looked lost ran over and snatched it up and started screaming.

turns out somehow when they put out the 2nd shipment of Ps3's they left one behind and found it later that night and just set it out for sale and didnt say anything and with in 3 minutes some lucky ass guy realized what it was and just walked over, picked it up and walked out with it, if that isnt lucky as hell!

I have a week off between Christmas and New Years. I really want to be spending some of that time battling my family on that PS3 platform !

heres a nice little article for a 18 year old in wilmington NC that was suspected of stealing a PS3, the cops knocked down the door and as soon as they saw the kid they loaded him up with 6 bullets in the chest and 1 in the head and 2 in his dog killing both of them, he didnt get a chance to say a word and neither did the cops they immidiatly unloaded on him. no guns in the house either

heres the story from WRAL:

Second Suspect Arrested In PlayStation Theft

POSTED: 9:19 am EST December 6, 2006
UPDATED: 9:23 am EST December 6, 2006

WILMINGTON, N.C. -- A second suspect was arrested in connection with a stolen PlayStation 3 case in Wilmington that ended in the death of a Durham teen.

According to court records, Braden Delaney Riley, 21, of Apex, was arrested Monday and charged with armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and breaking and entering a motor vehicle.

Court records indicate that Riley, along with Ryan David Mills, 20, of Durham, and Peyton Brooks Strickland, 18, of Durham, are suspects in the Nov. 17 incident, in which they allegedly assaulted a UNC-Wilmington student and stole two of the game consoles, estimated to be worth more than $1,200, from him.

Strickland was shot multiple times on Dec. 1 when New Hanover County sheriff's deputies served a warrant for his arrest. He died from a gunshot wound to the head, according to an autopsy report.

Witnesses said Strickland was unarmed during the shooting. The New Hanover County district attorney and State Bureau of Investigation are looking into the case to see if the shooting was justifiable.
