Pulling a 2007 Rav4

When we move to Spokane, WA from Ft. Leonardwood, MO I will have to pull my wifes Rav4. I plan on getting the Uhaul that we will put one set of the Rav4's wheels on to tow it. Her Rav4 weighs 3,300 lbs. I am thinking that I might need air bags for my rear shock and maybe an upgraded tranny cooler. Can anyone give me a link to a good tranny cooler. Also has anyone else done this before? I don't want to make my wife drive behind me all the way to Washington which is the other option besides me pulling her vehicle. Wow this is long.

i can't help w/ the rear shock question, although i am curious as well, since i'm new to this whole utility vehicle thing, and need to bring my supra shell out to live w/ me.

As far as the trans cooler, I was going to run a Setrab set up for both trans and engine oil, they make some of the better coolers that i have seen, or installed, and at a pretty decent price as well. You can read up on them at www.setrabusa.com.

I put a set of air lift 1000 in and i really like it. I like the fact that you are able to load the truck up and still have it sit at normal hight. Ive been moving around alot and am actually just starting to load up for a 500 mile drive back to school. The cab minus the 2 front seat will be full and there will be a jetski trailer on the hitch. Last time i did this the airlift did an amazing job. for 90 bucks it was well worth it.

Uhaul will not let you put a dolly or car trailer on your 4Runner. The 4Runner has sufficient power (unless going up a steep grade), but does not have the sufficient weight. If you've ever towed a heavy load in anything less than a 1/2 ton truck, you know what I mean. Braking, maneuvering, etc. will all suffer, therefore making your rig unsafe on the road.

In short, you will not be towing her Rav4, but rather, driving it.

You are right p nut, I went on Uhaul.com and it told me I would not be able to do it because the 4Runner does not weigh enough. Looks like we will be paying $1005.00 to have her Rav4 shipped.

Trust me, it's for your safety (and everyone else's on the road).

Anyway, maybe you should ship the 4Runner instead? The Rav4 will get much better gas mileage. And I don't know if the shipping company charges by the pound, but you could probably load up some stuff in the 4Runner when you ship it out (of course, nothing of value). Then it will leave more room for you in the Rav4. Just a thought.

That is what we would do if I didn't have my two weimaraners. Both of them can not fit in the back of the Rav4. Thats why I got a 4Runner, the fact that the back window rolls down is a bonus too.

... but you could probably load up some stuff in the 4Runner when you ship it out (of course, nothing of value). Then it will leave more room for you in the Rav4.
