Pulling a trailer

I've got a 99 w/100k, v6, 2x4.
I ride/race motorcycles and looking at buying a 6x12 enclosed trailer.

Would this be to much for the 4Runner?
Recommendations for highway use? Is it ok to let it drop to overdrive w/o hurting the tranny or anything else?

I believe for towing you want to avoid overdrive.

What is the trailer weight loaded/unloaded?

I think also the tongue weight rating is important.

What about highway travel?
I ride motocross and roadracing (motorcycle) trackdays, so at most i'll have 3-4 motorcycles in it. I can't see running 3000+rpms on the highway for an extended period of time.

I think the weight of the trailer and trailer + motorcycles is most important.

When I tow my pop-up it is around 2,100 pounds. On the highway, I sometimes leave the overdrive on. The biggest problem for the transmission is heat. If you have the overdrive on, more heat builds up. If I am going fast enough, or it is on a downgrade, I use the overdrive. Even on flat areas, I will take the overdrive off, just to cool down the transmission. I would say, when driving, I use the overdrive about 1/3 of the time, meaning I have it off most of the time. So, I would say using the overdrive some of the time is OK.

I also think, towing the trailer is OK, you can tow 5,000 pounds. I would say the true limit is probably 4/5th of that or 4,000 pounds. My best guess is the trailer weighs 1,300 pounds, plus your motorcycles, bringing it up to 2,000 pounds. Be sure to check the weight of the trailer, if your over 3,000 pounds a weight distribution hitch will help to prevent sway and it is recommended you have brakes on the trailer if it is over 1,500 pounds. We tow a 26ft. sailboat, with gear and trailer the weight is over 3000 pounds, we have no issues what-so-ever, even with the 5 speed. True i'm on my second clutch, but the first made it over 100xxx so i must have done something right!

Towing is not a issue really
i tow on a regualr basis my race car with trailor as well as other cars as well.
the average car i pull is about 2-2500lbs plus the weight or the trailor.

just a few weeks ago i towed one from L.A to Vegas 70 the whole way no issues.
i have 198k on my T4R so far.
