Pulling Stumps=deployed airbags

Durk...your links to the FSM have saved me a lot of money and are very informative....you rock man:thumb3:...I now know what to check to keep all of the people in line that I should be able to trust (muffler bearings...blinker fluid...etc...). I feel that I can almost perform the repairs myself. At least now I know what I am looking at as far as a realstic time interval etc....I owe you one.

Happy to help. Although it appears the '98 system on your truck is quite different from the 2002 that I posted (no front sensor or pre-tensioner). I wish we had the FSM's for all years. I have the paper FSM for my '99 and that's a big help for me--gave me the courage to do a lot of things I hadn't done before.

Indeed...there is a lot less compared from 1999-and above and between my 1998 looks like my truck just needs airbags, clockspring (maybe) and module + windsheild around 2K estimated. I will get pictures up the Truck is at my buddies house and I will be there tonight to move it to my body shop for disassembly and evaluation.

For folks who would leave the airbags as is, you may want to consider how things may pan out with your insurance company if you get into an accident and they find out about it. They will usually find any way to get out of paying a claim and arguing the vehicle was unsafe to drive and should not have been on the road might be one of them.
