My transfer case is leaking pretty good and I pressure washed it to get a good view of where the leak is coming from. It looks like the gasket on the rear plate and the gasket on the front plate. I was wondering if I can remove the case without pulling the tranny. My Haynes book says to pull the tranny, but i'd rather not if I can avoid it.

If you are talking about the front and rear outputs of the t-case leaking, you can replace the seals (not gaskets) with out pulling the trans or t-case.
If you unbolt the drive shaft (4 bolts) you will see a large nut (like 19mm maybe).
Take a chisel and un-stake it, then remove the nut. Then remove the bolts holding the housing on and slide it off. Replace the seal and put it all back together.

Thanks guys. It was actually easier then I thought, except for pulling the old seal out. I stabbed my hand but I'll survive.
Anyone else going to do this job, you need a 30mm socket to remove the nut from the flange. The hardest part was removing the old seal and squeezing new oil into the the TC.
I'm sure their's a tool for it but I used the Lucas squeeze bottle and a 3/8 hose.
