purchase new battery off craigslist...

I have convinced myself to run a dual battery setup.. as i began pricing things out i did a little CL searching and came across this.. he seems to have a few ads up for red/yellow top batteries unused and recently manufactured.. these are about 200 or so from retailers locally. Am i fool to even consider..

Yellow tops are decent as long as you don't run things that draw a lot of current off of the side posts. My preference for cheap sealed batteries is either the duralast gold's or diehard platinum (deka) from sears.

i cant seem to find either of those in canada, anyone have input on this or the deka batteries as an alternate option? thanks

1 don't buy an Optima, instead get a Die Hard Platinum. I have had 2 Optimas, both a Red & Yellow.

The red failed within a year.

The yellow now only charges up to ~ 65% capacity ever.

Also remember the rule than anything for sale used (unless it is made by Apple) is worth no more than 60 cents on the dollar for its brand new value. That applies even 1 week after the original sale, especially if you are buying it out the back of a pickup truck lol. People who think their used whatever is worth 85% of its brand new value are :barf:
