So I believe I'm now officially an addict. Currently there are 4 4runners in my possession. I've got my sport which is my DD and is pretty much perfect. Then there is my 99 5 speed that I'm slowly turning into my trail rig. And just today I bought 2 more that need a whole lot of work. One is a 98 SR5 that hit a median in last weeks snowstorm and the other is a 99 Limited that has hail damage and the engine was ran without oil in it
. To go more in depth the 98 needs this:
>New front Bumper
>New Driver side fender
>New Radiator Support and some small pieces to fix up the damage but that's not all. The 98 potentially has frame damage not to mention it is quite rusty. The rear doors no longer line up, the Driver's rear door rubs on the door jamb and the passenger rear door's gap is huge, but what confuses me is that the front doors appear to be fine as in the gaps line up correctly and no rubbing. The interior needs to be cleaned up and the tailgate (rusty) needs to be replaced but it runs and drives greats. Has a new radiator and new CV axles. 244xxx miles on it. No elocker. Auto. Tan interior, Black exterior.
Now onto the 99 Limited. It has hail damage bad on the hood and roof. A local mechanic owned it and gave it to his daughter who then drove the vehicle without oil in it:frusty:. I mean come on that's like the one thing you need to do for this vehicle. Other than that this thing is loaded. It has an elocker. Auto trans. Multimode transfer case. Leather is in good shape except for driver's side. Not rusty, the frame looked good there's just some surface rust. 128xxx miles on it. Tan Leather, White Exterior
Now for the moment of truth. What in the hell am I gonna do with these 2? I've thought about fixing the 98 and swapping frames, axles, locker, transfer case into it. Or fix the hail damage and swap the 98 engine into the 99. Or F'it all buy another engine put it in the 99 and fix both maybe sell one or both. Or open up the checkbooks and go all out on one of them or maybe both(not the best idea). Or should I just part them out. I picked both of these up for a combined total of $1400 and I can get most parts at cost from work and do most of the labor by myself(dad included).
Here are some pics of the 98, no pics of the 99 yet
