Purchasing Questions

Hi all,

I'm looking to pick up a 4Runner, and my requirements are as follows:
-> Manual Transmission
-> 4WD
-> v6

and preferably, leather interior.

i've been looking at the 2nd generation primarily because i thought they were the most recent models with manual transmission, but a trip to wikipedia told me that the 3rd generation models were also available with manual (until 1999, when it went to that stupid automagic manual crap).

however, in my searching, i've only turned up one 3rd generation stick shift, and it was a 4cylinder 2WD model.

so my question is this, why aren't i seeing more manual transmission 3rd generation 4runners? did they just not make very many of them?

3rd gen 5 speeds are out there, not near as common as the autos'. You'll have to do some digging. They were on the v6's also as well as the 4cyl that you found. I think the Limited's were the only ones that weren't available with a stick.

And if by "automagic manual" you meant one of those paddle/button auto/manual type deals then wikipedia isn't right. It's just a straight auto that's available.

I got lucky with mine. Didn't even know they made 5speed 3rd gens until I found the one I currently own. It is a 2000 to confirm brian2's post

Found one. a 2000, fully loaded, power everything, leather, etc., that was absolutely impeccable. not a single scratch on the under-carriage, etc. had to fly to virginia to pick it up, but it's a great ride.
