PURPLE 4 Runner

Does anyone on here have one of the God awful purple 4runners? I have not seen a single one on here and had actually forgotten that they made them.

I went to high school with a girl who drove one and today I saw a 60 year old, over weight, chain smoking lady with a mullet driving one up I-35 in a beat up purple people eater. I got a good laugh.

I don't know if it would be weird or awesome to see one all tricked out but I want to see it either way. Here is what I'm talking about in case you have never seen one.

it's either a ARB, or TJM from what I can tell. Just google those two, you'll find tons of info

Forewarning though, TJM's are not sold in the US and are kind of hard to find anymore

Sorry, should have specified. I am looking at the rear with the tire carrier, and it doesn't look familiar. But I will check the ARB and TJM tire carriers again just to be sure.

That blue one isn't the same color as those purple ones in the first post. I love the color on that dark blue one. I have the build threads for it in my favorites... here's the links...

Are you sure BFAD? It comes up as the Stellar Blue Pearl color, I think it's just a different angle, and probably very clean.

That's not a bad color (the blue one), those early 4Runners that were champagne were hideous - looked like a truck a 16 year old girl would drive - I think it was lavendar steel or something...

My '97 HiLux in Brazil is the purple color. I had picked out the model and then left on a business trip. My wife (now ex-) got to pick the color and take delivery from the dealer. When she picked me up at the airport in São Paulo, I took one look and asked her, "Is the truck sick today or is it always this color?" It's a great machine and has taken us some great places so by now the color has grown on me. (You should see the orange color on my CJ5).

Hey! I'm a former owner of a stellar blue 4runner. All my friends called it Barney or grimace. Hence my forum name. I miss that truck lots of personality.

Not purple but still one of the rare colors. Autumn blaze metallic, made in 99' only, I believe they made around 2,500 or so. Many Autumn Blaze 4Runners are rusted and not in well condition, at least the ones I see down hear, which is rare to none. Not planing to do anything crazy just maintenance and possibly forced induction. Also it's a 2WD so I wanna swap out the rear end or put in a differential. Although it's a street rig so i'm not going to be using my diff. lock alot. I just think it should have the function and capabilities if needed.

SBP is a great color. Definately a collector's color IMO.

Ok, I started out thinking there was no way the OP was talking about SBP. I remember seeing a 'purple' 4Runner when we were looking for something for the wife to drive last month. It was a lot lighter though... I think it was the Lavender Steem Metallica. However, I've seen a few 99-02 range that looks to be a dark purple, so maybe the SBP looks like a dark purple in certain angles.

Also.. I seen a mint colored in Limited trim at the dealer we bought my wife's Subi from last month.


(I love the look of a stellar blue in sr5 trim, like kzak has. The black plastic flares set off the blue nicely IMO. It would look really good on a 99 Highlander trim, but I don't like it AS much with color-keyed limited flares. Still looks good, but not as good to me.)

I'd love to see that color on a 99 in Highlander trim(not a 2000+ due to the limited flares on post 99 Highlanders). I bet it would look really good with just a few hits of the unpainted black plastic to break it up some.
