Purple Power Corner Markers?

So I gotta know. I read somewhere, on someone's build thread, that they used the Purple Power or another modest strength degreaser to black out their corner markers WITHOUT opening them up like you would a headlight. I'm likely going to pick some up to try, but before I do, can anyone shed a little light on the subject? Search function isn't doing me any justice...

*Update- I think D Farms did this?

*Update #2
It works.

Not blacking them out would shed more light!

:clap2: Niiice. I'm not worried about light output with my LED corner and DRL halos...

I picked up an extra corner housing test subject from the local yard last week, so if all else fails, some experimentation is in the near future.

Well, it definitely works. Took about an hour in total from filling and positioning it to let it eat at all of the chrome to flushing it multiple times to clear it all out in the end. See the edited first post for the outcome! Tomorrow I'll do this to both of my other corners. I'll keep my eye out for a passenger corner and see if someone else wants a set of blacked ones for cheap!

Interesting. What do they look like turned on, normal?
Yup! If anything, the light is a little more "spot like", but that is assumed since I removed the reflector bowl essentially. Now, I do have led's, and they are significantly brighter than the stock incandescent bulbs. Here is a pic of just my acc. lights on at night (you'll see my halos are wired with the corners).

Very cool. I may have to try this. I like the additional roof racks as well. I have a Rola roof rack on top of the two stock bars, that I get nervous loading up with weight.

Nice rig.

Update as of a week and a half later: No condensation, white spots, etching of plastic, alteration of condition, etc from soaking them in the high powered degreaser. Very happy with the final product and how easy it was to do. Biggest this was to rinse them MULTIPLE times in fresh water until no more bubbles are seen. Other than that, simple and cheap as can be!
