I've never seen a boat trailer with a weight distributing hitch, because they all have surge brakes. The brakes would not work with that type of hitch. In that case, your 4Runner is only rated for 5,000# weight carrying & 500# tongue weight.
I tow 5,500 with a weight distributing hitch with ease.
To try it, you would need self leveling or air shocks to keep your back end from dragging.

FYI - All V8 4Rs come with a tranny cooler.
7,000 lbs w/o trailer is just too much for the iforce engine.
YMMV

WHich year do you have? Mine is rated at #5000, but the 04 were rated at #7000.
I dont think the engine will be a problem and your tranny will warn you when it gets hot. So you should be fine if you have an 04.
Edit: I missed the trailer part, so the boat already weighs #7000. That would be pushing it, depends how much you want to push the safety limit but it will be able to do it.

There are boat trailers with WD equipment AND surge brakes. The surge brake portion is on a separate, moving portion of the frame.
The Tahoe wouldn't do much better as far as the tranny goes. It uses the 4L60E tranny; the same as used on the S10, Astro, Camaro etc... I had two of them fail on me when maintained properly.

You tow a trailer loaded over your manufacturer's towing limits/loads and have a wreck and your insurance can choose NOT to cover your stupidity. Fact. Period.

Consider a Armada? I know it's Nissan but they can tow a wopping 9000# or some crazy number like that!
Anyway, Brian is absolutely correct on this. If something does happen (heavens forbid), you can be screwed by the Insurance Company... I'd say it's definitely not worth it even if you know it's only going to be a short distance.
You might consider doing a rental rig to tow it since it's occational.

You also have to take into consideration that although the specs may say it might be able to haul the load, that doesn't mean your manuverability and stopping abilities are not going to be severly effected. A load that large is going to have a tendency to push around the vehicle just because of the smaller size of the 4Runner. This could possibly be a very dangerous situation.
