quality lift kits for 3rd gen?

I would think that 4.5-5" is achievable with little weight outside of stock.

I currently have a 99 limited with a 3 in rough country lift. Not sure what shocks it’s originally had but I replaced the rear with Bilstien 5100s. I have 285/75 16. It rides terrible, I hate it. Even after replacing the rear shocks. This is my second 4 runner. My first 4Runner had oem 99 talls and rode amazing. It had 410 gears and had way more power better gas mileage and took it places I would be afraid of taking my current 4Runner with the 285s and 430 gears because the the front end can’t handle the 285s. In my experience it’s expensive to get a lifted truck with oem style ride. I want to go back to stock. these rigs stock are amazing. Apologies for the long post

You may have some unaccounted for drivetrain binding. I felt the same until I greased the driveshafts and replaced all of the bushings front and back.seemed odd to me because I hadn't felt anything that would make me suspect a problem, but she magically got a bit of pep in her step after that single set of changes. I, too, am running 285's with 4.30's.

Fiffa is all over it. I would completely agree that when I first installed the Toytec Ultimate lift on my previous 4Runner it rode like crap when I first put it on. Lots of vibration and shimmy-like feelings. Once I greased all points of the driveshaft it made a monstrous difference and rode like a different vehicle. I never swapped all the bushings but I did do the steering rack bushings.

I'm have about 200 extra lbs in the front and 150 extra lbs in the rear. I don't plan on adding anymore weight to the front but maybe the rear in the future. Looking at the toytec lifts but I am unsure if the boss lift would support that weight well or if I should go with the ultimate. She is my DD and I am looking for a comfortable ride.

Anyone have experience with these lifts with extra weight or know which one would be best?

I know with the Ultimate lift that I got you had the option of 550/600/650 lb springs. I believe with the Aluma lift its a 550lb spring. Looks like the boss or ultimate (whatever the other current option is) gives you the choice of spring rate.

Yeah the boss gives you the 550lb spring and the ultimate has an option of the 600lb or 650lb. I know I don't want the 650. The 600 says it's recommended for aftermarket bumper and winch. 550 I'm guessing stock and aftermarket bumper. Toytec recommended me the boss kit with the 550 and that's probably what I am going to get since I don't plan on adding a winch. I just wanted to hear people's personal option on it. I don't want it to be too soft. To go from really stiff with the OME lift to really soft would be a disappointment.

I had the 550lb springs with all stock bumpers and everything and it rode amazing. I really don't feel like it sagged at all. So I would def. say 550 or 600.
