Question about Cargo Mats

I just took delivery of a 2005 Limited, which has the cargo shelf. It also came with the Toyota mat package (code CF), including a cargo mat.

The problem is, the cargo mat covers the little holes where the shelf locks in place when it's in the "down" position.

Do I need to move the mat to the top of the shelf every time I lower the shelf? Or is there a different version of the mat that's intended to be used with the cargo shelf, and has holes to allow the cargo shelf to lock down?

Thanks!

I'm not aware of a second Toyota mat for the top. But when I put the shelf down, I put my mat (mine's a WeatherTech) on top of the shelf so it's protected. No sense leaving the mat under what it could cover.

John,
Thanks for your reply. So your mat doesn't have holes in it either, so it could remain on the floor when you lower the shelf?

Enjoy!

After looking at Weathertec and other rubber mats for 60$+, I thought was a little high.

The other day I was at Costco and noticed some Kraco mats(they look exactly like
Weathertec), they were both front and rears, Price $18. A little trimming and they
fit the front perfectly, the rears are fine as they are.

Thought I would pass that along.

I'm out of the country right now so I can't go look ... and I can't remember!

Well, my dealer still isn't sure about the mats! The customer service person is trying to figure out if there is a different mat that would allow the cargo deck to lock down, on top of the mat.

Anyone else with a cargo deck have any thoughts?

Thanks!

the stock cargo mat does not have holes in it. i put it on top of the shelf when it's lowered and on the floor when the shelf is raised. even if it did have holes in it i think the mat is too thick to leave it under the shelf when it's down. the locks on the shelf can't catch the rings on the floor and close properly.

Still out of the country, but I went to the WeatherTech web site. The photos look like it covers the holes. Now that I think about it though, the lip on the cargo liner means you really ought to remove it before putting the shelf down.

OK, I'm back for a few days...looked at the truck today, and teh WeatherTech cargo liner covers up the holes where the shelf locks down.
