question about dealers and courtesy rental cars

So I have to take my 4runner in for warranty service, sulfur smell, sunroof broke, and washer nozzle not spraying.

i ask them if they provided a rental for me to use since it might take a few days... and they don't. are there any dealers in the philly area that provide a rental? or is it just a regional thing because i read on this forum that some people were able to get courtesy cars from the dealers.

great service for buying a 40k truck.

Toyota should be ashamed of themselves for this kind of service. With any kind of warranty work (especially a defect from factory) there should be a free rental car for the duration of the work. What kind of customer relations is that? Do they want repeat customers?

When my WRX went to the Subaru dealer for warranty work I got to PICK my free rental car. Now that is excellent customer relations. Did you raise any kind of stink about how much of an inconvenience this is to you?

Thompson Toyota in Doylestown has been the best dealer in the Philly area for me by far. I have always been offered a car if it was to take more than a day. And when offered a small car (standard procedure) I just say I could never fit 3 kids seats in there and they upgrade me to a Camry. Unlike other dealers I have never felt that they were trying to pull something on me. With all the service stories on this board it is refreshing to know I get pretty decent service from them.

That's the one thing good I can say about Volvo. I may have purchased a lemon vehicle from them, but every time (7 times total in 4 months) I brought my car in for service, I was given a brand new loaner car that was usually much nicer than the car I owned. Toyota has never done this, and probably never will.

update.

so i called up a few dealers and i did find a few that actually wanted to help me out even though i didnt buy the truck from them.

Faulkner Toyota in Trevose... talked to a guy named greg, took the time to explain everything to me(about the sulfur smell) and said he could get me a courtesy car.

Team toyota in langhorne... talked to corrodo and told him the problems, said to bring it in and he'll have a courtesy car for me. he even said to ask for him when i get there. this dealer does have the "president's award" for service so that has got to give some credibility to the dealer. it's twice as far away from me compared to the other dealers but i would prefer to take it somewhere i can trust.

and the dealer that gave me crappy service? sloane toyota of glenside where THE TRUCK WAS PURCHASED. I've heard some shaddy stuff going on there from friends (ie putting on cheap aftermarket pads and charging for oem pads, forgetting to put the oil drain bolt during the oil change) so i'm never going there.
oh and did i mention every time i call their service dept it takes at least TEN RINGS on the phone for them to pick up?

The dealer I go to, which is Galaxy Toyota in Eatontown, NJ, gives out loaner cars for almost anything. They have Corolla's, Camry's, and Sienna's. If they have loaner cars left, they will even give me one for routine service. That is the main reason we bought all of our Toyota's from them!

I think it's competition bmw in Long Island that gives out doner Carollas when your car is in their shop.

well just to give you guys an update

i did get a courtesy car... unfortunately it was a obnoxiously bright red dodge neon piece of junk. i wonder why they didnt give me a corolla or something. can't complain though since they did give me a loaner(from enterprise)

i got the 4runner back and they fixed my washer nozzle(wasn't squirting water), replaced both cats, and fixed the sunroof(which wouldnt close).

i floored it a couple times and i don't smell the sulfur at all! only thing is the sunroof still makes a racket when closing. is this normal? it makes some whining noise like plastic parts rubbing against each other. did anyone get this fixed? i think i may have to take it in again to get it checked out.

and for anyone that lives near the langhorne, PA area, TEAM toyota has excellent service.

Solice...have you had any service done at Rahal yet, I refuse to go to Faulkner where I bought it. I went to Rahal for oil and filter and I have the drivers seat problem for which there is a TSB but I didn't have the number with me. They said they couldn't find the TSB and set up an appointment which was out 9 days. I knew I would get a dealer blow off on the seat. So I will blow them off and change my own oil. By the way Faulkner Honda is a whole different story, very good service.

Yeah, I've had the 5k, 10k, 15k, and inspection done there. So far the only time I've had a problem was with this last time I took it in for the 15k and inspection. I handed them the TSB for the Sulfur smell and they sort of gave me a run around. I started a thread about it here.

I'm hoping Rahal doesn't disappoint me because I've heard that Faulkner Toyota is horrible.
