Question about locking differential.....

I have a 2003 V8, and when i hit the button to lock the differential I get a flashing symbol on my gauges but I don't think it ever actually locks....

Shouldn't this go solid? And shouldn't it tell me VSC is off?

My VSC never turns off either? Any ideas? Is there some special way to engage the lock that I don't know about?

Do you have to be stopped and wait for it to engage? Have the truck in park?

How long does it normally take to engage?

Think i might have to exercise a warranty here.....

It engages better if it's used from time to time. You don't need to be stopped or be in neutral, but you can do either one. Try various combinations. Neutral, driving slowly forward, driving slowly backwards, then back to neutral. When driving, point your wheels straight but if it doesn't engage, turn them just a touch from side to side and then try reverse with the wheels straight, etc. Mine engages better in Hi-range but you could try going to Low just to mess around some more. I would avoid heavy throttle input but you can also try light acceleration, deceleration. Just mess around, and once you get it engaged, note what worked and also use it from time to time.

Mine works the fastest if I put it in N, then hit the lock button. If its taking too long (i.e longer than 2 seconds) I put it in park and then back to N, and that fixes it. I'm way to impatient =D

something is definitely wrong, i tried reverse, drive, neutral, for about 20 minutes and couldn't get it to actually catch.

I guess i'll call the shop after christmas. :(

Yeah 20 mins is definitely a problem. I would be pissed if it took longer than 10 seconds.
