Question about map card

I purchased map micro SD card 86271-0E070 a few months back to update my GPS map to 2018 and it worked.

Now seeing map card 86271-0E071 out on Ebay and was told it was released in Aug. of 2018 for the Highlander and Sequoia.

I've had one dealer tell me that they are the same card, but that different vehicles are going to have different part numbers.

But, in looking at several dealer websites, am seeing that all of them are saying for the 2018 T4R that the latest map card should be the 071 card.

So ... does anybody know here are they the same or what? Just wondering out of curiosity. Todd

I dont have the answer to your question - but i am curious if you paid the $150 from a legit site (or dealer), or did you find a copy on ebay? I googled that card number 86271-0E070 and no second hand things come up, just $150 toyota versions.

I paid $140 for the card and I think it came from a dealer. They had other toyota items for sale and I asked a bunch of questions and was told this is whats in my computer.

From all the Toyota dealer sites I have been too, it looks like you can get it from a dealer for $153 and shipping.

I know before they would issue an interim card and call it like 0E182A and it would have a updated map and usually updates for the radio and I am wondering if instead of that they are calling it 0E071 as from what I can tell it looks like it was issued 4 months after 0E070.

Since nobody has the answer to your actual question, ha, i have another follow up. I have a 2016 TEP. So i'm wondering how much I'd notice the new maps changes. Did you have an older version before installing and notice anything changed? I notice a lot of the speed limits are wrong on mine. I just don't want to pay $150 for one new road 500 miles away from me.

I live in an area that has a lot of new subdivisions going in and I did notice new roads and new completed subdivision in. It seems like it takes a year or two before they show up in the maps.

My truck is the one that we use for our road tripping -- we live in Texas, my family lives in Minnesota and South Dakota and we have friends in Colorado and Idaho so we do A LOT of driving in the truck.

This is the main reason why I like to update the chip every year, so that I do have the latest maps.

The other thing that I do know is that the chip will also contain updates for the software on the radio and I have experience in the past with a 2014 Highlander that had map chip 182 and we had problems with the FM radio seeming like it was an old record player and skipping a lot on songs. Picked up chip 182A and it had an update on it for the radio and it solved that problem.

I also understand that as the maps are updated, road classifications are updated and how you are routed it updated to on the newer chips, so as we drive in the boonies it helps to have that capability.
