First off, I've been chomping at the bit to get tires for a while now. Since its memorial day weekend there are some specials that I really am having troubles resisting. I am looking at either Duratracs, Toyo Open Country AT2s, or Cooper Discoverer AT3s. I don't offroad a lot but I still want a fairly aggressive AT.
I want to know how the road hazard warranties work if you purchase them online. Right now, I live in a town of about 20,000 people and the only tire shops are just the typical "Ma and Pa" shops. The nearest discount tire is 90+ miles away and I'm curious how the road hazard works at the small tire shops.
So, since I am eyeing sets to purchase online, I can't imagine a typical tire shop in the small town I live in would even consider honoring the warranty since I didn't buy from them. I imagine there's some type of reimbursement policy if I suffered a blowout and would have to get a replacement tire? Is there anyone who has experience with this or are the road hazards for an AT tire that hardly ever sees harsh offroad even worth it?
