Question about pro comp / and tires

Hey guys I was just wondering if the Pro Comp Xtreme Rock Crawler Series 97 Steel Black Wheels 97-6883 would be able to fit on my '96 limited 4runner along with LT265/75R16 BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO2.

Will there be rubbing with that size of a tire, I know it is just a little bigger than what the stock size for tires are and I have looked around on other threads throughout the site, but I wanted to know for this specific combo.

Also with the pro comp wheel would i need to get some Gorilla Black Lug Nuts Acorn Bulge Seat 13/16" Hex Head 12mm x 1.50 Thread because the wheel itself is not hub centric?

Those wheels have too small of a hub bore. Our trucks use 106 mm hub bore. Some other thoughts, as a steel wheel, they'll be very heavy. This coupled with your heavy E rated tires, will greatly increase your unsprung weight, and make your truck slower to accelerate and brake.

I suggest some 16" alloys with proper hub bore and lug pattern. I also suggest C rated 265/75/16's, as they are much better suited to our truck. I, as well many other members, are a big fan of the Duratrac tire in that size. These also come in a much smoother riding C load rating. I also noticed you're in Ohio, so you'll be looking for winter traction. The Duratrac is also highly praised for it's snow and ice traction.
 
I agree with looking for an alloy wheel. I purchased steel wheels and wish I never did. Switched back to an alloy and couldn't be happier.

Awesome! Looking into the Duratracs as we speak, could you point me in the right direction to look for some alloys that would do the job? Thanks again.

Link me some of the ones you like and we'll find out together. Level 8 makes a great budget friendly alloy wheel.

Oh and yes on the Duratracs, they are absolutely at home when the ground is white covered in fun.

Usually it's listed in the wheel's specs. See the center hole on every wheel? It's designed to fit over your trucks' hubs and since every manufacturer uses different sized hubs, it's important to make sure you get the right ones.

Aren't most aftermarket wheels lug centric though? From what I have read it seems pretty hard to find a hub bore of 106mm. I am stuck on what to do.
 
Right, but if the wheel physically doesn't fit over the hub, then you have a problem.

In the above picture, you'll notice the center black cap. That's your hub shield, cap, protector ... whatever you want to call it. It has a diameter of 106mm, so you'll need to at least clear that, and then rely on your tapered lugs to center the wheel.

Make sense?

yes, that makes sense. I don't know if this would affect anything, but I also have 1.25" spidertrax spacers.
 
I'm fairly certain that Spidertrax have a hub centric lip on the outside of the wheel mating surface, but I can't say for sure as I've personally never owned them. I personally would stick to proper hub bore wheels, as they'll be easier to sell to other Toyota guys down the road.
 
if you want to make easy get some scs wheels. he specifically made them to fit toyotas and they are pretty sexy. they are also very light and strong.
I had some steel wheels before i got my scs wheels. my 265/75/16 with steel wheels weighed the same as my 285/75/16 with alloy wheels.

he is a vendor on here check them out. not to mention great customer service.

You know its funny that you mention SCS, I don't know why I didn't think about them. My team and I actually do quite a bit of work with them. I am one of the YotaMafia team members, I don't know if you know what that is but we have a fairly large page on Instagram.

Again, I know we talked about this earlier but I just want to be clear because we spoke about this while talking about the wheel being paired with the BFG tire. Could I do a steel pro comp rim with 108mm center bore (Pro Comp Xtreme Rock Crawler Series 98 Black Wheels 98-6783 - Free Shipping on Orders Over $99 at Summit Racing ) this one, paired with the 265/75r16 goodyear wrangler duratracs?
 
Yes! But, I think you'd be much happier with an alloy wheel. The weight difference is significant. Also, modern alloys are strong as hell, Ive never bent a wheel despite several blowouts
