I searched this forum top to bottom and cant find the answer to my question. I want to do a coolant flush on my 04 4runner (its at 85k and its never been changed before). I have a plastic drain plug on the bottom of my radiator that looks like it takes an Allen wrench or something. Anybody know what tool or what size Allen wrench will remove it? Its bigger than any Allen wrench I have and I will probably have to buy the individual wrench. It looks like at least a 12mm or 14mm. It seems nobody else has the same plug because nobody ever mentions it.... Hopefully somebody else has dealt with this problem... Thanks in advance:thanks:

make sure that's actually the drain petcock and not a plug. That's pretty big for both an Allen socket and a drain valve.

What year 4Runner do you have? Are you sure its the factory radiator? There should be a white plastic wing nut looking petcock valve on either the driver's side or passenger side bottom corner of the radiator. What you are talking about might be a drain plug or something, but I don't remember seeing that style on many modern Toyota radiators.

Mine has the white plastic wing nut looking petcock valve at the bottom of the radiator and there's also a metal drain plug on the side of the engine block. If you can't find the plugs better get a service manual that points out where they are like the Haynes manual. The photos in it aren't very good and just black and gray with no contrast but you can find the plugs at least.
