question about the "rev limiter"

okay, i'm sure some of you might remember - i posted in here a few months back about my fiances 02 t4r .


the vsc, trac and check engine lights were on.

we replaced the spark plugs, cleaned the maf sensor with the appropriate cleaner, replaced the air fuel ratio sensor - and still nothing. we've heard a bunch of different things from different people but have yet to take it in ( pretty stupid, right? ) anyways..someone just mentioned to me just now something about the "rev limiter" - i described what the vehicle does..when you floor it completely it basically does NOTHING..nothing what it should do at least.

i'm not car savvy or anything, but would this have ANYTHING to do with the lights that are on, or the symptoms that the car is experiencing?

I have not heard of a "rev limiter" per se but if there were some kind of governor to limit RPM's it would probably prevent the engine revving into the "red zone" which I recall is 5400 RPM.

If the check engine light is on I would get the diagnostic codes to see where the system is detecting a fault. Could even be a faulty ignition coil pack

I know mine is governed to kill the throttle at a mere 106 MPH but I have never hit a rev limiter. I'll be more than happy to try when I replace my belts though :biggrin2: Replaced the A/F sensor on a hunch? You make some costly assumptions on repairs! Definitely take it in. If nothing else write down the codes and research them
