Does this replace the balljoints? I was confused because it says it does but it's an upper control arm and the ball joints are the lower ball joints.

I don't know if its beefed up, but the PO of my 4runner put Tacoma LBJ on which seem to be pretty good.

Now that I think about it, I've seen a newer Tacoma surcome to LBJ failure. I was leaving base and bam the tire popped out from under this tacos driver side. No one was hurt but the mans pride.

Absolutely correct. My turning radius sucks! I don't recommend the Tacoma LBJ. I'm still learning/figuring out what has been modified on mine. Whenever possible I try to replace with OEM parts. Thanks for the correction to my comment!

Yeah I am doing the same with mine, well was doing the same with mine. The PO had some cheapie parts. Also, yes I've been working all day so I'm a little bit scatter brained haha.

Lots of LBJ threads on here but you won't see them unless you do a Google search (my Sig) because LBJ like TRD has only 3 characters.

Moog...never heard good things about them before I had a Runner. OEM would be stuff like AC Delco and JDM right?

No, OEM would be Toyota. Go to your local dealership when you get off that boat/sub and order them there or go through a Toyota dealership online to save some money.

OEM means other equipment manufacturer but for all practical sense it means dealer approved parts not purchased directly from a Toyota dealer.
Generally speaking, Toyota does not make parts.
Companies like Koyo made parts for certain years and then same piece of equipment was contacted to other parts companies other years.
So if Koyo made the radiator in say 96,97 they might not gave had the official contract For 98 and beyond but the specs never changed just the parts supplier. As long as they once made the part to Toyota specs and are still producing the same part you should be good. So buying a Koyo radiator on Amazon should be same quality as buying one from dealer. That is the idea.
Now who knows which companies actually produced the parts which year? That is tricky. Most cheapo parts places like oRilley or Auto zone carry "sort of compatible" parts. They offer long warranties to convince they buyer it is a good part. In reality most people change cars every few years so that cheap water pump that came with a lifetime warranty .. Well when it breaks 40k miles later they are off the hook.
I suggest you just buy from an online Toyota parts Dealer like the one I linked below. 20-30% off dealer list price.

Dang it is cheaper, thank you very much. Is there something you need to replace in conjunction with the LBJs? Because I ask is on the diagram it seems as though the lower ball joint it the only thing that is changed out. Though this isn't the same diagram we use for our 600hp twin turbo diesels on this ship...MIGHT be reading it wrong haha.
