Question about using TRD coilovers for lift?

OK so I've casually been reading about the 1500000 different ways to lift this vehicle and I've got a question. From what I understand you can use the OEM Toyota Tundra TRD front spring and coil to lift the front of the 4Runner?

So can I not just go to autozone or some other parts store and pick up some OEM style replacement springs and struts for the Tundra TRD and yield the same results?

That is correct. You will need to break down your original struts and install the top plate to the TRD struts. That is all that is needed. Get an alignment. You caster will be off, and will never go back to factory. Just have the shop get it as close to factory while keeping the camber correct and you will be fine.

Ok cool. Any particular brand people recommend? I've heard good things about monroe in the past, which I believe OReillys carries.

My shocks are past due for a change so I might give this a try very soon.

Don't think you can buy them at autozone, as they are going to give you tundra sprins not TRD. But I could be wrong.

Toyota dealers sell them and so do junkyard and people on forums.

For the shocks I would get bilstein 5100 for tundra.

Yeah you can't use the parts store springs. They won't be the TRD progressive springs. Also shocks I recommend the 5100's as well.
