Question for those that have retrofitted headlights or blacked them out

So I'm in the middle of a retro fit project and looking for advice on the cover that goes over the turn signal lamp. In my opinion, it looks way better with it gone. Is there anyone out there that has reassembled their headlights without this clear plastic piece? Seems like it's just cosmetic but I'm not sure. I don't want to seal up this headlight and find out that I have to gut it again.

Pretty sure that's a Fresnel lens to help focus the beam. I'd imagine you would get more light scattering without it, but I haven't removed mine so I can't say for sure.

I think it would be fine, put it back together without re sealing it, shake it around to make sure itwasn't needed. If so put it back

Yea I don't think it holds anything in place, I was more concerned about what [MENTION=112757]mrpurplepenguin[/MENTION] mentioned above. For a turn signal I wouldn't be too concerned about light scatter but hoping to get someone who has done this to weigh in first.

I don't think it would blind anybody (unless you have superbright 5 million lumen HID turnsignals lol), but since more of the light will be spread up/down instead of focused out horizontally it might not appear as bright to other cars. Most likely still fine, but again I haven't done it so I can't comment.

Bumping to see if anyone else that's done this can weigh way. New projectors get in today and I'll be putting everything back together this weekend.
