Question for those who have added the nav units after purchase

I personally don't feel that the Green backlight sticks out at all. Truth be told, the BEAUTIFUL Eclipse Nav Display Screen seems to drown everything else out in the car. At night, the LCD display sticks out so much that you don't even remember that the rest of the car is illuminated in Amber. Also, the green that lights up on the Eclipse buttons is the same shade of florescent green that illuminates on the "D" when you have the car in Drive. Needless to say, I don't regret the purchase one bit

At first this was a big concern for me. I looked everywhere and contemplated on the option of switching out the lights with amber ones. But now that I have it in it honestly doesn't bother me one bit. My girlfriend didn't even notice it till I pointed it out and many of my friends don't comment on it at all other than how cool the nav unit itself is. Hope it helps....

I must agree. I thought it would stick out, until I actually installed it. Nobody has noticed it until I pointed it out to them. They are all facinated by the big display screen. Best purchase I could have made for my 4Runner. If I was a master solderer, I might try changing the LEDs, but there's no way I would risk screwing up my $1600 investment just because of the color of the LEDs. I'm very happy with it, even with the green lights.
I agree too concerning the OEM Value Toyota Nav system, not the aftermarket Eclipse system which I didn't think was part of the question to begin with.
The green backlights don't bother me at all and I really thought they would. The system blends right into the dash like it was installed at the factory. I love it.
I also purchased the microphone for the system and found the 60 plus voice commands that are recognized by the system.
Next week I'm adding a Toyota XM receiver to the system. Eventually, I'll add the backup camera which will give me the full meal deal nav system.
It's a great system. I wouldn't hesitate if you're considering purchasing one. As I understand these are getting scarce and OEM Value can not promise they'll be able to keep them in stock.

It bothered me way too much, and I knew that I could not live with the green lights. Every time I got in and drove at night, I looked at the green lights and knew I had do change them......I have a VERY limited soldering experience, and NO experience with surface mounted LEDs. So I read up on soldering technique, bought a soldering iron ( a good one). I practiced a whole bunch on wires, then on the LED's in the old HU ( I removed and replaced a bunch of the LED's and they all worked when I put it all back together, so I felt comfortable enough to do it on the NAV. I did the whole thing in one night (boy was I seeing double for a few days), and when I put it all together and plugged it in, I was amazed that all the LEDs worked! This was about a year ago, and they are still working strong! I am still glad that I undertook this VERY risky challenge. The key was to practice on the old HU in order to get comfortable working with those TINY LEDs....
