Question: interior lights lock/unlock configuration

Hi folks,

I typically don't post much and try to search for topics that might of been covered already but was unsuccessful in doing so with this issue. It actually happen to me before but I am not sure how I was able to change in the past. Here it is.

This is how it was originally set up

When pressing the unlock button the interior dome lights "switched to door" will come on and stay on for 15 seconds before opening the door.

When pressing the lock button the interior dome lights "switched to door" will automatically turn off and there will be a single beep.

Between now and then something happened and this is how it works now.

When pressing the unlock button the interior dome lights "switched to door" will not come on until the door is opened.

When pressing the lock button the interior dome lights "switched to door" will stay on for about 15 seconds and there will be 2 beeps.

In conclusion this is the configuration that was basically reversed from the original one. I have feeling like its something simple e.g. pressing lock or unlock button simultaneously for 4 seconds or something similar. Toyota told me to just bring the car in but if its something as easy as pressing a couple of buttons on remote I can do it my self and I am sure someone on here experienced this issue before.

Thanks for the help.

Went to the dealer to see if anything could be done about this to revert it back. They told me that its working as intended and changed my timer to 7 seconds. But I know for a fact that its still set up incorrectly and not sure what triggered it. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Interior Lights

I am assuming this is a 4th gen. I have a 2003 LTD and the interior lights work just as you said, unlock=lights on. Lock=lights off. Have you had any 'campaigns' done at the dealer recently. Maybe they 'updated' the ECU without your knowledge and screwed up the settings. I researched what you said about pushing two buttons and found nothing. There is a member Black something if I recall who works for Toyota service, maybe he can chime in.

Good luck

Do you know if you have a Dealer or Port installed aftermarket alarm unit?

My '04 Beeps Twice when unlocking, the dome light stays on for about 5~7 seconds and then goes off. It Beeps Once when locking, so I am not entirely sure what the issue is here.

I don't have a TIS Techstream at home to play with and I'm on vacation for a couple of weeks at the moment.

First of thanks to everyone who replied.

Its 2007 4runner sport. Yes they did some software upgrade last when I was at the dealer. I actually took it back and told them about this they plugged in their computer but did not find anything and saying it was working as intended. All they did was just lower the timer on interior lights to 7 seconds. Its not like its big deal its some what annoying that the lights stay on for 7 seconds after you lock the car instead of turning off right away.

did you ever get this issue resolved?

I have a 2007 4runner sr5 and just recently it started to have the same issues with the lock button as you described. It use to be; I click the lock button on the remote it would beep once I click the lock button again headlights would turn off. Now when I hit the lock button the remote; it beeps twice dome lights try to go off and come back on, if I hit the button again it just repeats that. It takes about 15 seconds for everything to turn off. I know it isn't causing issues but something caused this. I haven't taken it to a dealer so I know software hasn't been updated or changed. Any help woks thankyou.

Dome lights and locking doors

Had the same thing. Check and make sure all the doors incl. the tailgate are completely shut. Bet one is open and causing this.

Good luck
