I have a 06 sport V6 4WD. I tried out DAC over the past weekend and wanted to ask others if theirs works the same.
I was in 4 Lo, in 2nd gear. I found a good grade and started down, and hit the DAC button.
At first all seemed fine, the truck worked it's way down the hill, with no assist from me, then after about 6 sec, there was this tremendous noise/rumble from what seemed like under the hood, this lasted a few sec's then stopped but after about 20 more feet it happened again. I persisted until I got out of DAC. To a noivce it sounds like you are shaking the front end apart.
The vibration is pretty stong and quite loud and reminded me of when I had a front brake caliper bolt break. Thus when I was hitting the brakes the front discs were not even and you got a really strong vibration when you attempted to use the front brakes, the only way you could free them was to back up. I noticed that I had the DAC and VSC indicators lit on the dash, like you are supposed to.
I re-read the manual and it mentioned that you should be getting engine braking along with braking, and I am not sure which this was, but I still have a hard time believeing it's normal. I haven't gone by the dealer mainly since I figure that they will say "sure it's normal" and more than likely none of them have even tried the feature. I wish I had tried this before I purchased only so I would know if this is normal.
I found that I could pretty much decend with just 4Lo and the truck in 1st gear and get the same controlled decent.
Anyway, I would appreciate others feedback on how the DAC should operate.
