Question on how to "store" 4runner outside

I am the original owner of the 4runner since 2005-6. It has been handed down to my older son and then to my younger son. Both of my sons are in college and both have more efficient gas vehicles for transportation. I have my own daily.
I don't want to sell the 4runner and only can park it outside on the driveway.

What are my option(s) to keep it clean and out of the sun beside car cover? I will drive it time to time. One negative thing about car cover is that it will create spiderwebs when the car get dust on it.

I actually saw one of these yesterday. Pretty goofy but might be a happy medium if your not looking to do a port. Google "car umbrella" should find you some less expensive results.

Storing outside and clean don't really go together.

I say just keep it running and wash it once in a while so dust doesn't get caked on there.

Keep it out of the sun as much as possible. Maybe a tree or on the shaded side of the house.

Wash and give it a good coat of UV Wax and it's fine.

It's actually worse for your paint to park under trees (leaves are acidic, sap and bird poop will etch in the clear coat) than it is to park in the sun.

I would not be as concerned with paint/exterior (as that's all easily fixable, would +1 to a yearly wash and wax (use something easy to apply.. I like the spray on, rinse off stuff) and focus on eliminating the infiltration of pests like rodents/insects and monitor for water ingress. Maybe some sort of moisture absorber.. kitty litter?

Google is your friend, but off the top, higher PSI in tires, maybe put it on jackstands to partially unload the suspension, stuff steel wool/fabric softener sheets/mothballs. everywhere.

I would drive it on a minimum 10-20 mile trip at least twice per month, to heat up the oil and get the gear oil splashed around in the gear boxes again. Vehicles deteriorate more when neglected than when used regularly. That will also keep the battery charged and help keep mice/squirrels from taking up residence, etc. Plus, if you do need it in an emergency, you know it'll be ready to go.

Personally, I’d avoid the mothballs. My buddy uses them in his boat n it stinks all summer long.
