Question on installing Light Racing UCA

To those of you who have installed these, what adjustments are you setting them to out of the box? UBJ bolt as far away from engine as possible, and caster at 0 degrees?

Are you giving the alignment shop (Firestone for me...) any pointers, or just bringing it in and saying go?

Something else?

Any other tips for the install that may make my life easier?

I set them to what the instructions set them to and went from there. SPC recommends the "D" setting i believe. Before getting rid of them i did rotate them forward for more firewall clearance.

Grease the ever loving crap out of them. And check them periodically, the bushings are known to shit the bed early on.

I did what the instructions said for 3" lifted applications for the caster and yeah, UBJ bolt furthest from the engine. I brought my truck to my alignment shop and gave them a [scanned] copy of the caster adjustment chart from the instructions, and said have at it.

Got it back with all parameters of the alignment within spec.

The install is pretty straightforward. I sort of had a hard time getting the OEM upper control arm bolt out to remove the original one, but it eventually came out.

Thanks guys. All noted.

As far away as possible, and to the D. Got it.

Good luck, Firestone!

This^^^. Also in my experience firestone is the worst place to alignments on lifted applications. Though I only tried two locations. If you have already purchased a lifetime alignment then it is worth a shot.

When getting it aligned do as suggested above and give them a copy of the instructions. The first time I took mine in they did a horrible job, next wasn't any better. Finally took it to Toyota and they nailed it. I started having a vibration that I was trying to track down and took it back to Firestone. I explained to them that I had a lifted vehicle with aftermarket upper control arms that had their own way to adjust camber. The guy was great. He said that his tech who does lifted vehicles wasn't in and made me an appointment for the next day. This guy nailed it again. They even pushed the camber forward like I asked.

Sorry for the long reply. In short, explain your situation and what you want. Maybe they'll have a specialist that can do it.

Any updates on your alignments?

Yessir. Took it into Firestone and told them I needed it aligned. They asked why, told them I had just installed aftermarket UCAs. Guy said, "Cool" and took my keys.

He told me this was as close as he could get them...

Cross Camber: 0.0
Cross Caster: -0.3
Total Toe: .23

What do you guys think of these numbers?

any updates on the numbers? also do you have wheel spacers? if so how many inches?

reason why i'm asking is that I just bought some KO2 285/75/16. I have 1.25 wheel spacers. I currently have a 2.5in lift front and 3in lift rear.

Just bought the LR and I'm not sure if the guy at american tire depot have a specialist to set the alignment properly for a lift.

thanks
