Question on interest rates from Toyota Financial

This isn't really related to a 4Runner but I have to ask here as everyone seems to know everything. I have a 05 4Runner and I just got my parents into a 07 RAV4. My mother has excellent credit and since Toyota is not offering any special rates, does anyone know what Tier 1 or Tier 1 Plus current interest rates may be? The loan will be for 60 months. I just want to make sure the stealership doesn't screw us. I was thinking somethere in the 4% range but not sure. Thanks.

Wow, you really think 6% for Tier 1 customers? I find that shocking. Well, I guess I'll find out tomorrow. I guess I'll call around to a couple of banks too. Thanks.

Actually the rate that Toyota Financial offers you has more to do with the car they are promoting than the actual cost of money.

They usually absorb the difference between the rate they offer you and the actual cost of money as a discount on the car.

The reason I know this is because, I got 3.9% for 60 months on a 4Runner 2 weeks ago.

Check out www.buyatoyota.com and enter your zip code (or your mother's) and the model of car you're looking for, to get all the local specials including interest rates.

Good luck

There are no specials on the RAV4 at all in our area. They dealer only took about $1500 off the price as Toyota has no special APR nor rebate currently. They are selling so well they don't have to.

I currently work for a Toyota Dealership in the Northwest Region.

Tier 1+, Tier 1 High 6's to Low 7's

Local Credit Unions: 6.49 is best

I had a fun time with this, Toyota first gave me 6% before we bought the 4Runner, I called my bank and told them that toyota was offering 6%, the bank said they would go down to 5.2%. Toyota came back with 4.9%. (I had the bank on the phone) The bank then tells me 4%. The dealer said, "we cannot go that low", so I went with the bank. The dealer was a little angry, but I do not care, they got a nice chunk of cash from me!

when i bought my 06 in mar of 06 i got the special 2.90 rate, and i was tier 2,i asked no questions.i think is has more to do with the particular vehicle moreso than your credit score. good luck

Right now until 4/2 Toyota is offering 0% for 36 months on new 4runners. But you have to take delivery by 4/2. I'm hoping they'll extend that offer through next month since I'll be ordering mine.

Can't see how they won't since next month is tax season and people are getting hit by taxes....plus it's an incentive to get those with refunds too.

The other rates that were offered were 2.9% for 48 and 3.9% for 60 months in case you were wondering.

Hello,

I was lucky to get 1.9% financing for 60 months from TFS. I was a Tier 1+ customer and TFS was more than happy to finance my 4Runner.

Just curious, is there any reason why all of your posts are in ALL CAPS??

Does everyone know their tier because a dealer told you what tier you are in? Just curious if there is a way to find out what tier I'm in without the dealer pulling my credit. I pulled my fico scores about a week ago, but I realize it has more to do than just your scores.

I have approval with my credit union for my T4R purchase and don't want to mess any of that up by having the dealer pull my credit.

Please let me know if there is a good source for figuring out how TFS would rate you.

Thanks!
Chris

Well, we picked up the RAV4 and she ended up getting 6.49%. Unfortunately, banks around here are at the same or slightly higher. Not an interest rate that we were happy with but they were not budging. This was on a Tier 1+ rate through Toyota Financial. She is very happy with the vehicle but would have definately liked a lower rate.

Sounds like you got a good deal relative to the banks, and that's the best you can ask for. Congrats on the purchase!

Toyota will only offer rates well below market on specific models that aren't selling (like the 4Runner). They're effectively eating the difference between 6.49% and 1.9%, 2.9%, or whatever as an incentive to get people to buy that model.

anyone know if TFS will refinance a current loan and offer you a special they're having now? i'm currently paying over 8%, would be nice if I can get the 1.9, 2.9 that they're offering on the 4Rs. Got mine last oct. & there was no incentive for 2007.

Don't quote me on this but I don't believe they will refinance to their promotional rates. Basically they are there to intice you to buy it. If you got a rebate instead I can definately tell you they won't but I believe the promo rates are only for NEW vehicles. Meaning they are still on the lot. You could always call and ask to see if you can get a lower rate. Did you try your local bank or credit union?
