Question on ordering

My dealer told me 60~90 days. I have a feeling that is conservative, though.
I'm interested in hearing some actual times, too.
It depends if the dealer tries to find the vehicle you want somewhere in your region or if they truly place a special factory order. Most Toyota dealers don't like to place factory orders, and some will instead hope the right thing magically arrives in the region so that they can get their hands on it.
If the truck you want was already found in the region, then there's a good chance another one will show up soon. Toyota builds a handful of configurations for each region, with the configurations changing maybe once a month. Your dealer can see what's sitting on lots as well as what's due to arrive in the region in the next 4 weeks.
A true factory order will take 3-4 months.

I've read where dealers will snag something at port that fits their needs. Luckily, my build matches what my region generally gets, so it shouldn't be much of a weight.
I might need it quickly, too. I'm going to schedule my ACL surgery soon and I won't be able to drive a stickshift for a while after getting diced up!
That's how I got my SR5. The dealer had a listing of everything that was known to be arriving in the NW region. He found one black SR5 configured like I wanted it that was in transit to another dealer. My dealer was able to get the other dealer to give it up in trade before it ever got off the truck. It just took an extra day for it to get it to my dealer - six days wait in total.

Ordered my 2010 4Runner Limited with navigation in pearl white on January 11 2010, the car is not here yet from Japan!hehe Dealer told me it will get here mid-February.
No problem! I prefer that the car was specifically factory ordered for me and not some dealer trade, even though its the same things...almost..haha
I still have to wait 4 weeks or so for my personalied licensed plate anyway..sooo..great!

How much extra $ is it to special order, or is there no additional cost involved?
There should be no extra charge for ordering. You should be able to agree on a price and have them order what you want. Nothing says you have to pay MSRP if you order.
