Question on Softex tan leather seats and how hot they get in the summer?

I was just wondering how hot the Tan Softex Leather (not black) get's in the summer since the SR5 Premium seats are not perforated and only have heated seats and no cooling/ventilation option.

I moved to Georgia and if I buy a 4Runner I plan on getting the windows tinted as well. I'm leaning towards an SR5 Premium bc I like the Red Exterior and Tan Softex fake leather interior. You can get tan seats in the Limited but it's too expensive and I don't like the blocky front styling. I have cooled seats on my 2016 Mustang but honestly I don't use them that much.

I haven't every really noticed it as an issue. I live in Utah - it's hot, but not humid. I do like the cooled seats in our other car better - but so far the softex has been pretty great in terms of durability. Easy to clean. Durable to dogs and kids and whatever else I throw in. More so than leather. And they seem to show zero wear on mine at 60k miles and 6 years. I'd buy them again.

Times like that softex does nothing to help, and I find myself wishing I had cooled seats.

Wife does not like.

My wife complains they get too hot in the summer 25C to 30C and too cold in the winter -15C to -35C. She puts a towel or jacket under her in the summer when she's wearing shorts. The seats don't bother me with shorts or any other time. I turn her seat warmer on right away in the winter. I'm looking for seat covers to keep mom happy.

I have a Pro my wife has a Limited. Our experience is that while any seat gets hot, the real leather in the Limited feels a lot hotter in the sun than the Softex in the Pro.

And the ease of cleaning if you do go out and get the car dusty and dirty is great. I'd definitely choose that over fabric.

Im in AZ, it's 110 consistently in the summer. We have tinted windows and the Softex material... hasn't been an issue.

I have tan leather seats in my Limited and I pat myself on the back every time knowing I made the right decision to get the Limited for the cooled seats whenever my back is drenched in sweat hopping into the vehicle. There's nothing like having a full blast of cold air blowing against your back. Not everyone dig the front look of the Limited so that's completely understandable. Is there a high-contrast fabric available for the 5th gen? My Sport '07 has high contrast fabric and it held up fairly well during summers. I don't know if that's the same/similar to Softex since I never had any experience using their products

Worked at a Toyota dealership for seven years and found that you feel the extreme temperatures way less with the Softex seats than leather. Never did the hot or cold dance when jumping into a car with Softex.

I think I've heard/read somewhere that softex is 20% cooler than weather, although someone mentioned that it's due to the fact softex is much thinner than the mixto bonded whatever leather they use

I'm in Arizona. I test drove the premium in the spring when it was not even hot yet. After 10 minutes, I was sweating and super uncomfortable, I couldn't stand that stuff. There was no way I was buying a premium with those seats. I love the cloth seats. Very comfortable to me and I never sweat.

Of course, this will be totally different for everyone. People like different things. I never could stand any kind of furniture that was leather, or imitation leather. I love cloth. Some people love the leather feel.

Live in Tampa and in summers can get real hot and humid 32C with 38C real feel no problem. Never even thought about not getting the ventilated seats and am glad every day I did.

I live in south Louisiana and it gets really hot down here too. I tinted my windows and it’s never been an issue at all. In other cars I’ve had cases where the seats would almost burn you if you were wearing shorts.

Not the answer to the question you were asking but you should really tint your windows if you are worried about seat heat. Keeps your car so much cooler overall.

Live in Atlanta area as well. No issues what so ever with my TRD Offroad Prem seats. They are black. Front windows tinted to 30. Never noticed them hot. Should not be an issue with the tan either.

Softex seats

I've got the softex black seats in my 2018 Off Road Prem. I haven't had the pleasure of experiencing a St. Louis summer with this vehicle yet. My second car is a Ford Escape Limited with leather seats. I ordered Coverking SpacerMesh covers for that car. By design nature they allowed some air circulation more than standard covers. Not at all water proof/resistant, but that was not the purpose in purchase. Air circulation and protection to the leather underneath. Like most covers these were/are a P.I.T.A. to remove and clean, only downside of seat covers. I'll probably buy the same ones again...creature of habit.
