questions about buying a new 1st gen 4runner

Hey i am about to buy my first 22re 4runner and it has 245000 on it and the engine was rebuilt in 1997. is there anything i should look for before I buy??

Depending on where you are, frame rust is a major issue.
Also, when was the timing chain last replaced?

not much rust, some on the hood but thats about it, we had a mechanic go and look at it today so i will find out how that went soon enough. not sure about that timing chain though

try to find out where the engine was rebuilt if the owner didnt do it themselves. in either case, i would try to schedule something to have a mechanic check out the vehicle, mainly the engine. your miles are high but thats not high for a 22RE however there are good rebuilds and not so good ones and this one is 11 years old so i would be curious as to how its holding up.
